The Skunk occupancy sensor is available in 12v and 220v
How it works
A passive (infrared motion detector) is placed in individual rooms where lighting is to be controlled by the unit and wired into the existing lighting installation. As movement is detected by the passive it activates the light in the room. A timer then starts a countdown to zero. Once the timer reaches zero the light is switched off. If movement is detected before the timer times out, the timer is reset until no more detection has taken place.
A change in pressure like a door opening can also activate the unit with a built in pressure switch.
Passives that can be used: 360 degree ceiling mount passives, 180 degree passives, corner mount passives, wall mounted passives and standard passives.
This unit can switch lights, air conditioners, fans, TV’s, radios, etc. on and off automatically
Operation
Once in operation the unit will switch the lights on in that individual room as the person enters and will automatically switch off the lights when the person exits the room after a preset time delay. This also applies to weekends when the building is mostly empty, keeping the lights off that otherwise would have been left on saving money and pollution 24/7.
Savings with load shedding/ power failures
With units installed and lamps replaced with energy saving globes on the premises and load shedding/power failures taking place the back up generator will not work as hard and will consume less diesel.
The unit
The unit is compact and easy to install (can be done DIY) with a socket and plug to interlink between the existing 5 Amp lighting plugs and lights or made to suit any specific installation, and has a small unobtrusive passive which is hardwired to the control unit. |
