Alarm Re-installation Questions
Q: We have an existing alarm system installed with Chubb and would like to know if this system will need a complete alarm re-installation?
A: We would recommend using our system as a standalone system that is not connected to your existing alarm. It will be a back-up system. If your alarm is by-passed our units will still work. You are able to connect our Slave units to your alarm but we ask that you speak with Chubb first to see if they will allow it.
Q: Should we go through with the installation will this work hand in hand with Chubb/other systems so we can have armed response as well or you are an independent company.
A: If you connect our Slave Unit to the existing alarm, it will work according to that. If your alarm goes off our unit will spray pepper spray.
Q: Seeing that you are in Alberton, how much ‘pepper spray’ do you have in a system?
A: We have four different units, each one with different amount of pepper sprays available to protect a specific sized area.
To get an idea our Industrial unit has 2x 425ml canisters inside, this will cover a 100sqm in a couple of seconds and spread throughout an open area. Our Standard Master Unit has 1 x 425ml canister and will cover 50sqm in a couple of seconds and spread throughout an open are.
Once the unit is triggered it will spray for 5-seconds and stop to reset itself (this takes about 2 minutes). Each 425ml canister can spray up to 6 times before it needs to be replaced. The unit will start sounding short beeps with every 250th movement that the passive picks up, notifying you that it has sprayed about 4 times and will need to be replaced soon.
Q: Should the alarm go off, how long does it last in a 20sqm room for example?
A: The pepper spray will stay in the area until ventilated and cleaned. When the area is ventilated it will take about 30-60minutes to clear. After you are able to go back into the are you need to clean with a damp cloth and mop where possible, if you have carpets use a wet and dry vacuum cleaner. If the pepper spray is not cleaned it will react like dust, so when disturbed it will go back into the air and you will experience symptoms of a spray.
Q: And will we be able to replace the reservoirs/tanks were it’s kept once used up or you will have to come and replace/refill?
A: You are able to replace the canisters yourself if you choose to do so. We provide you with a wiring diagram as well as technical assistance over the phone if needed.
Q: How often does it require to be maintained/serviced?
A: We recommend once a year to make sure everything is still working fine. The pepper spray can last between 4-5years if not used.
Q: What is an estimate on installations and monthly premiums/once off payments?
A: We will unfortunately not be able to the installation in the North West Province as we feel our after installation customer care will not be as quick as one would hope.
Our units are very easy to install, we provide you with a wiring diagram as well as technical support over the phone if needed. We are also able to supply you with a training manual with detailed descriptions.
